I have some nicely sliced pieces of a parts car that were mailed to me. Now I'm just trying to decide the best way to deal with the situation. I have two ideas. The first idea (marked in yellow) would be to drill out the pinch welds and remove the rotted ear from my car. Then I would drill our the pinch welds from the spare part and re weld all the pinch welds and mend the rear.

My second idea (marked in green) would be to slice the panels and use my flare/punch tool to sort of sleeve the new piece in and spot weld it. Again, in the rear I would just have to fit it the best I can and weld down the seams.

your first idea seems to be the easy one

i think you should trace it out on a scrap piece just in case
then go to it.if it get too bad youll have the scrap to fall back on

good luck

Go with the first idea given the amount of rus you can see from the picture. The second is way more work than you think. Ask me how I know.
