I have a 79 spider 2000. I am wondering are the bumpers chrome or stainless steel? Does anyone know a good place to send parts to be re chromed?

They are chromed. You'll have to check your local yellowpages for good chroming companies.

they are so darn heavy, it's expensive to ship them. Talk to a local body shop and find out a source that they use for restoring bumpers rather than a chrome shop

What really sucks is that I can buy brand new bumpers for my Nova for half as much as a crappy rechrome job for my FIAT is. I got the ones on my Nova rechromed before the new ones were available, paid extra for "show chrome". The car has only gotten wet a half dozen times in the last ten years, but the chrome is getting pitts and bubbles!

Jaime, I got a quote from a place in Miami 1100.00 for that price you can get a new set.
There are a few places in Orlando that I am trying contact. 1100 is too steep considering a new set is about a 1k
