KYB Shck replacement question
KYB Shck replacement question
Hello Spider Fans, My car is an 82. I'm in the process of replacing my original rear shocks with KYB GR2's. Should I uses the rubber bushings that came with the KYB's or use the bushings from the original shocks. The new bushings have a different shape and compress rather easily. I already replaced the front shocks and used the new bushings they came with. So far no problems. The older ones seem to fit better where they seat. The old bushings still seem to be in good shape, still flexible but harder than the KYB bushing. Which ones should I use? I've also noticed that the KYB shock is a little longer that the rear originals. It makes it a little more difficult to get back in !!
Re: KYB Shck replacement question
Just finished that same job tonight. I used the KYB bushings. While I'm sure there are those who can give better reasons, I figured that the difference in shaft length and thickness between KYB and OE meant that the old bushings might not snug up right. Add to that the fact that the KYB washer/cap is significantly smaller than the OE, and fits their bushing. Plus, I'm quite happy with the results..

I used the new bushings with my KYBs. I have been happy thus far.
