Attention all Fiat owners. The Mitty is April 29 through May 2 this year and it promises to be a great event. There are several of us meeting at the FLU tent for the weekend and we will have the opportunity to take our cars on the track. There's also several races going on, including a Lemons race, vintage race and even a chance to drive an MX-5 in the Kumho autocross. This weekend is filled with all kinds of racing goodies and I hope to see you there! Check out the website at:

We desperately need some people to come forward with their cars! One of the newest FLU members is a editor for Classic Motorsports .He bought a really sweet 69 Spider, loves the car and the club.He has given us a tent and free laps around the finest track in the country. In return...they only ask that we get some cars there. The Mitty is the biggest vintage race and sports car meet in the Southeast.Literally hundreds of cars show up. Please try and make at least 1 day.Let me know if you can make it,I am trying to get a car count. Also,if one of you car-less(NOT CARELESS!) guys wants to drive my 76 there, let me know.I will buy the gas :D This is not a FLU event, you dont need to be a member.
Thanks,Craig

Wish I could get out from So Cal to this event. Be sure to take pictures of the BRE-tribute MX-5 and 370Z on the track for us! the BRE MX-5 had its debut out here in Long Beach, CA over the ALMS/IndyCar weekend. Looks great!

I will get some pix up in the next day.The best picture was the one I didnt get.On our touring laps I looked in the mirror and saw a blonde girl in a award winning Spider spinning off the track!! :shock:Thats right...Denise spun out during a parade!! No harm,no foul.I saw some cars I have never seen in person, very cool.
I had a bad experience during the ride home. While in cruise mode, the engine on my 76 project started a aserious internal banging :( I think a rebuild I cant afford right now is in order.So...there may be a nice car with a engine problem on the market cheap. More on another post.

Bummer about the 76 Craig. How's the 82 now?
Denise didn't spin out on the twisty mountain roads when she drove my car. Could it be the 82s handle better?

I put the fuel rail with a new injector(thanks narfire) back in the 82 today.And...nuttin'.It still isnt running on all 4,although it 'kicks in' every so often. It seems to be electrical in nature. Before I go any further,I am going to do a compression test to rule out internals. Not a good couple weeks in my fiat world.
Narfire,i couldnt figure out why that injector was so heavy :DThanks for the Canadian installation fluid.I am going to drown my sorrows as soon as it cools off.

Now I'm really disappointed we couldn't make it back to Road Atlanta on Sunday - it must have been a treat to see Denise spin out! Saturday was great despite the less than ideal weather. If you guys had stayed a bit later Saturday you would have seen a Spider turn in a very respectable performance in the last race of the day 8) .
Denise, let Amber know she now has her first "fan club". She certainly made an impression :)
Craig, I hate to hear about the 76 having issues on the drive home. If the motor does need major work, I'll gladly help you with that (if you decide to keep it). I hope you can get the 82 sorted out in short order! I'm going to be disappointed if I finally get mine back on the road and neither of yours are drivable. Just let know if you need any help with either.

Even though the weather didn't want to cooperate, we were lucky not to get anything but a bit of mist. We had a great time watching the races, talking to the vendors and taking a wild ride on the track. I wasn't the only one that spun in that spot. Later, I found out a racecar lost an engine there and dropped some oil. No harm, no foul!
My 72 ran flawlessly for 700 miles this weekend and it was good to see my good friends Craig and Rose and great to see Kevin again and meet his new wife and three boys. The boys made it more enjoyable for Amber, who was not too enthusiastic about riding in a Fiat for several hours and she loved watching the races. You guys missed out!!!

Uhhhh....Denise,if you take the 'proper' line through the corners you miss the oil :D Just thought I would mention it.Kevin thanks for the offer for help.I will figure out what is wrong with the 82 and it will be up and running soon.I will then make a desicion on the 76.The car has so much on the plus side(interior, tranny, rebuilt suspension, rare wheels,no rust,etc...),that it will be hard for me to part it out.I woud like to find a home for it.We'll see.Elial and Denise and her hubby Ron have also offered to help.Fiat people are the best!!
My camera is in my wifes car,so I will get some pix up tomorrow.I had a great time this weekend, met some great folks.I had 4 or 5 people stop by with the old'' I had one of these as my first car'' stories. One guy stopped in his Porsche Cayman, and had a fit over the Fiat.I was more than willing to trade  We had 3 Spiders,1 Alfa(wimps),3 Maseratis,3 Ferraris, and a Lambo on Sunday...despite the drizzle. The I cars came through this year.

Evidently, I was driving the right line if I slid through oil from a blown racecar....duhhhh. What line were you driving, Craig?
