Re: FFO from so cal,
You need to get a few people together to rent one of those car haulers to get your cars over here. It would be awesome for our SoCal brethern to join us in a little fun!

Re: FFO from so cal,
I'm tentatively planning to go, but haven't made any firm commitments yet. There is a group from the Bay area that was talking up a caravan drive accross the country, but I haven't heard anything from them for a couple months now.

Hey, I only had to push it about 100 yards . . . up hill . . . with 5 lanes of freeway rush hour traffic screaming by . . . in 110°F outdoor temperature near Palm Springs . . . to get under an overpass and out of the sun, so I could have a decent chance to troubleshoot why the engine suddenly died. Swapped out the fried electric fuel pump with another spare one that I had in the trunk, and drove the next 8000 miles across the country and back without a hiccup. Lesson learned: don't wrap your fuel pump with sound deadening insulation.
And for Gary's car, after pushing and shoving to get his spider up into an undersized desert toy hauler, pulled by an undersized tow vehicle, we looked at the death trap combination, shook our heads, and Gary spoke, "Let's just drive the darned thing to Texas". So, we did. Then on to Missouri for good measure, before making a U-turn and heading back to California. No hiccups.
We are too poor (or stupid) for car haulers, so we settle for the fun way.
