Hello all I am looking for some information on hooking up a DFEV carb on my 1978 fiat spider. I am near Gergetown Ontario Canada and Last summer I met a gentleman at the Georgetown cruise. He was using a DFEV carb and recomended that I should get one. I need to know what left over hoses and lines to get rid of or plug up.
If that gentleman is still on the fiatspider.com site please pm me.

Sorry one more hook up, the powered wire that goes to the solinaod now goes to the electric choke, Did you bypass the two hoses that go to choke into one hose.
Re: Hooking up a weber DFEV carb
the beauty of the DFEV is that there are zero emission equipment hookups required. great for a de-smogged engine. but, i agree that the conversion can get a little confusing.
all it has is gasoline in, 12 volts for the choke, and a vacuum port for the dizzy advance. as the previous response stated... any left over tubes are unnecessary for the proper running of the engine.
if your 1978 distributor does not have vacuum advance, be sure to plug that port at the base of the carburetor, or you will have a vacuum leak.
you will not be using the fuel return line. be sure to plug that steel line at the firewall.
also, it is not necessary to remove the charcoal canister completely from the system. leaving the tank to charcoal cansister hookup intact is a good idea.

Thanks guy's for your help. Right now I am rebuilding the engine after removing 31 years of grease from it. So the new carb will be the crowning touch.
