hood release cable
hood release cable
Hey all my buddy has a broken hood release cable to we cant get the hood open we are both new to the car. Any thoughts on getting it open?
Re: hood release cable
There is usually an emergency hood release cable/strap near the regular hood release. It should be a plastic strip that has a loop on it to pull. Follow the release cable, it should be there somewhere.
The emergency cable in inside the car, drivers side, near the regular hood release. Check for the emergency plastic loop there and give it a pull.

Re: hood release cable
You need
Long eagle nose pliers, pushed up the front of the firewall behind the starter motor, - then grab the existing cable, then twist it, then pull down and towards the fender.

Re: hood release cable
any chance you can look at an existing spider with an intact cable so you know what you are up against? i always find it easier to work blindfolded if i know what the heck i'm doing.
if not, the trunk latch is identical to the hood latch except for the cable. always helps to know what you are up against.
then.... if you DO get it open... i suggest a different approach to an emergency release cable.
the second picture on the attached link shows you what the latch looks like:

best of luck
