Firewire recording from around the world...

Post by radiopilot »

Almost everyone here knows I run a small radio station here in Savannah, well an affiliate of mine sent me this video for which radio does not do it justice... it's a Firewire recording in real time (Firewire is real time internet music recording), well engineered considering the locations (watch the video). It's about 5:15 minutes long but worth every second of it!

"The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters. This composite version is a real toe tapper. "

So turn up the speaker volume and enjoy....

Yeah it was... It's 'Firewire' and not 'Livewire'... had the '....wire' wrong.

Absolutely brilliant :)
By the way .... three of the artists were from New Orleans, how is the reconstruction going on down there?

thanks for that, it's great.
As for reconstruction in NO, it's about one step ahead of Haiti. Lots of it look like the hurricane was yesterday

This video is from a group called Playing for Change (http://playingforchange.com). They recorded the first guy in Santa Monica, then traveled all over the world recording the collaborators. It looks like they've done a number of songs this way which you can find on their website.
