Wind Deflector

Anyone have one of these from IAP? I picked one up from a friend on the cheap but it didn't have the mounting brackets on each end that attach to the car. From what I was told the brackets aren't that complicated and could be easily fabricated. I was wondering if someone did if they could post a pic of them.

I would love to make one of these for my car. The only thing is I have small children and I don't want to put a barrier between us. I am interested in making one that would be easily installed/ removed for the times I don't have the kids with us. One that would possibly fold or pull apart. Since you don't have yours installed yet. Would you take a pic and get dimensions for me? Thanks

You know, I just got to thinking. I could shape it like the inside of the roll bar and use velcro to attach it. Never mind with the pic's and dimensions.

Man, I can't count the number of time I wished I had a barrier between me and the kids when they were young!
Probably almost as many times as they wished for the same!

IAP says this one cant be installed with a roll bar in place. Dunno why but that's what they say. If you change your mind and want the dimensions let me know.

I have one my spider, and it is a great fix for the severe wind buffeting you get in these cars. Before installation, I had to hang on to my cap from about 65 MPH and up. Now, I can run up to about 90 + MPH before I have to hang onto it. But don't think your wife's 'do will survive a spirited run. You will still get buffeted, and the severity will still be mainly driven by hopw tall you are.

It can be removed by simply taking off two nuts. The top works normally. 10 minutes max. Great piece of gear

Could you post some pics of the hardware and how it mounts? Mine has two nuts on each end but thats it. The PO said it's supposed to have a mounting bracket. With some pics I could possibly make one.

I have seen pictures of a home made deflector. I think he used plexiglass and some leather straps to attach it to the roll bar. I believe the maker was Ron Conlon in Norman, OK. I may have seen this on the mirafiori board.

you are correct. Ron Conlon is the designer of the plexiglas wind deflector. i don't have a copy of the link, but i do have a copy of the article that describes it and has pictures.

I never saw pictures of this but another poster on mirafiori made a deflector out of some kind of mesh material that he fastened to the roll bar. Apparently you could see through it but it was not as clear as plexiglass. I don't remember his name but I think he was in the Houston area.

It seems like it might "flutter" in the wind and shake your headrest around, no?
I'd like to see one that mounts to the roll bar.
