What have I bought?

Post by C2 »

:?: I have a 1983 car. I will have to regester it next week when I get it road worthy. At the risk of insutling the purest I am not sure what to put down as the make and model. Is it a Fiat, Spider or a Pininfarina, Azzura? When I imported it I called it a Fiat, Spider. The more sites I visit the less I am sure.

Mar 1982: Pininfarina themselves, who had always assembled the Spider's bodies since production began in 1966, takeover sole responsibility from Fiat for the entire assembly, distribution and marketing of the car. For the 1983 model year the "Fiat" name and badging are dropped, it is now called the "Pininfarina Spider Azzura". European sales resumed as the "Spider Europa" without catalytic converter. The "faux" rear seat the car always had is now replaced by a luggage shelf.

the dumbest question is the one not asked. Newbies like you only learn from asking. Don't stop asking.

IMHO, you have bought a future handful of fun! Congrats! Let us know what we can do to help you get it road worthy. When you get situation, you need to post pictures, so we can all oooh and aaahhh over your new aquisition.

That is what I thought. I am just waiting for a control arm to clear customs and to do a wheel alignment. Had a 76 when I was young and loved it. This is not in as good shape. I will putter during the rainy months.

C2,

I'm sorry you find yourself in this situation with a poor seller and disappointing (compared to what should have been) product. I know it is probably very little consolation, but I think I speak for all here when I say, if there's anything we can assist you with, don't hesitate to ask. It's a tragedy there's people out there that would so blatantly lie like the seller did.

Thanks for all the support. I have what I have at this point. I planned on working on the car anyway. Now I have a little more to do. I should get it from my mechanic tomorrow in shape to drive and get insurance. I am getting excited about getting it on the road for a few weeks anyway. I am sure you all will hear from me during the winter.
