COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
Even though the link shows the 2.3 Ford system, the Fiat system will be the same with the exception it will feature a block mount distributor. The unit is small enough to clear dual IDF manifolds. It features an adjustable curve that is easily selected by a set screw on the top of the unit. We'll have them in about 2 weeks.

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
That is sweet!
The spark plug wires could run right up in between the cam covers from behind, if the module was mounted to the firewall.
Not to mention the obvious improvement over the old dual point systems... It'd be worth the money.
I want one!

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
Is this for performance engines? What comes with it and how much would it be?
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
this will be an upgrade for anything from a stock engine to a full race unit. The system will sell for $500 and will include everything in the pic-distributor unit contains all electonics, coil pack, wire harness and spark plug wires.
Installation will be quite simple and setting static timing is easy. With the timing pointer set on your desired static timing (tdc, 10, 12, etc), you turn the distributor until the led on top lights up. Cinch the clamp down and you're done.

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
I like it. I just read through the installation instructions and I don;t see anything about the selectable / adjustable ignition timing curve. Tell me more about that?
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
I have to revise my response to the curve question. I talked to the manufacturer at length today to get updates on the status of the units. The units they're building for us will not feature the electronic advance. They will be all electronic but will feature a mechanical advance. They are currently building new circuit boards that will incorporate an adjustable rev limiter and they don't have stock of the old boards. So our units will all be mechanical advance. They will still feature 60000 volt output and led static timing. Sorry for any confusion

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
Thanks for the clarification, Mark.
So, will there be a method of adjusting that mechanical advance? Is it springs / weights? Or is it built-into whichever circuit-board they use?
And do I understand then that in the future, there WILL be one available that will have the selectable advance curve?

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
the mechanical curve will be adjustable. They didn't give me a timeline for the full electronic unit with rev limiter. I believe it's still undergoing testing
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
Will this one and the one their testing be the same price?
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
they haven't quoted prices on the next version and I'm not sure what their timeline is before it's available. I'm sure their testing will take some time

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
What benefit would this offer me over a stock 2L electronic ignition setup and mostly stock engine? I suppose reliability might be better over 30 yr old components, but does a stronger spark directly correlate to more power?
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
reliability will be much improved over the Marelli unit. The Marelli pickup units have to be replaced about yearly due to the wire degradation and lower seal oil leaks. Rotors fail and destroy the distributor caps. Vacuum advances fail on a yearly basis from the exhaust heat.
60000 volts from the new units will allow spark plugs to fire under virtually any conditions, including wide gaps due to wear. The units feature a more accurate firing event, and since they will be driven off the auxillary shaft will be less prone to spark scatter from belt fluctuations.

Hi Mark,
Can you tell me the advantages and disadvantages of this unit compared to the EDIS system.

Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
it will have similar performance as far as accuracy and voltage output but without the hassle and expense of new pulleys and trigger mounts. It will also be much easier to change static timing. Rather than adjusting the trigger mount you will just turn the unit like you would a distributor.
Re: COMING SOON, ULTIMATE IGNTION SYSTEM
When will this be available? My 1980 FI has no pull after 3000 RPM and i would like more modern parts for reliablility!!!
