Had to get the car out in the snow today!

Post by maytag »

I took the car out and snapped some pics today. Couldn't pass-up the crisp, cold air, so I grabbed the video-camera too, to capture the way it sounds right now. I love it. (Especially with the sub I'm play-backing on  )
You can see the video here, if interested.

Haha I liked the church parking lot in the video. She sounds good. What exhaust do you have on it?

my Air/Fuel ratio gauge.
It doesn't start to read correctly until it gets to about 600 degrees... so don't pay too much attention to it in this video.
I'll post-up sometime some video of it working, and how I used it to dial-in the jetting up here at 4000 feet!

the exhaust is currently stock at the motor, a Monza (from Pacesetter) tip w/ resonator, and a rotten hot-dog in-between. 8)

I'm actually quite pleased with how she sounds, and I figure it'll do until I build the new motor, and get Mark's header on it. Then I'll build me a new exhaust, and mess around with different combinations of mufflers & resonators until I find one I love. I've got enough old motorcycle slip-on's layin' around this place that I figure I'll mess around with a couple of 'em first! :?:

The car sounds great! I'm very jealous of your roads as well! One of the draw backs to living in paradise is that the roads are swiss cheese here, they can't manage to make pavement last more than 6 months before it disintegrates.

I have a set of those wheels without the center covers. They are 14". Does anyone know what the wheels are and where I might look for the center covers???

Good looking car Dan. You need to come take me for a ride to get me motivated to work on mine in this frigid weather. Talk to MBOUSE about a set of T-bar bumpers to finish it off, I think it's a great look.

What is the 'T-Bar' bumper?

I'm thinking I'll build a set of "Quick-Jacks" for bumpers. I'd make 'em functional, of course, which'll be cool... but I think they belong on this car.
I've got a set of 15" wheels I'll be putting on it, as soon as I can get to doing springs / shocks & front-end bushings, etc. (The rear is already done)

But I promised the wife I'd take care of her master-bathroom remodel first. We were shopping for tile all day today.
It's okay though... every night I spend working in the garage in this weather costs me about $10 in propane!

and you're right: I SHOULD come take ya for a spin! I'd like to see your car!

I think those wheels are Speedlines ( from the USA ), ones in the photo are 15"

oh... I see. yes, I like those too. Not too far from what I'm thinking, actually. here's a Cobra sportin' the "Quick-jack" bumper, for any who have never seen one:
