Upholstery Satisfaction

Post by spidernut »

Questions:

1. Where did you get the upholstery for your Spider?
2. How much did you pay?
3. How satisfied are you with the results/quality?

I'm converting from the factory red to tan and see HUGE differences in prices and quality so far.

Hi John.
My two bits worth. Before I knew about all the vendors out there, I bought a set of tan covers from IAP(tan). Tan is a coffee with extra cream colour. Beige was lighter as I found out. I think I paid around $900 usd for the front and rear.
I am lucky to have a semi retired upolstery fellow accross the street. Gave him a couple of hundred and a bit of wood trim for his house and he did ,I think, a better than excellent job, even trimmed a bit around the seat hinge in cherry.
The fit is great and seems to be standing up,even with the odd trip with dogs in the back. Cleans well with some kind of upolstery cleaner, but the installer said water and dish soap works best without damaging the material.
I'm looking at a cheaper slip on for the 72. Missed out on a set Matt had.

I had mine professionally reupholstered. I've seen too many kits that look like kits when they're done. Bulgy, uneven and mismatched colours. There definately is a difference in quality that either last or it doesn't. I've redone things too many times because it just didn't last.
Now I always go for the best I can afford.

Our interior came from World Upholstery. Paid about $300.00 for the two front seats. Installation was easy, just be sure to have a hair dryer or heat gun to warm things up and help stretch the new covers over the seats. The color is slightly lighter than the factory color - but not so far off it matters (to me, at least). After six years they are holding up well.

I got mine from World Upholstery as well. I was very happy with the quality - especially for the price.
