Heater By-Pass:Reconnect

Post by TVST*R »

I bought my car w/the heater bypassed and now I want
to check the core (valve) for leaks.

So, which hose goes where,ie,does the hose from the head
go to the pass. side firewall inlet or what?

Thanks!

the hose from the cyl head goes to the inner nipple, the hose from the pipe goes to the outer nipple

Gee...I didn't see any nipples :) ...I'll look again.

Outer is passanger side I assume.
Thanks Mark!

the two heater pipes should be sticking thru the firewall, and yes outer would be towards the outside of the car. I'd expect the heater control valve to leak once you hook it up

Once you've determined that the core does not leak, I would check the control valve for functionality....even if it does not leak.

Besides leaking, those valves are prone to sticking, or reduced movement. These conditions cause the heat to be on all the time. Prolly why the core was disconnected to begin with.

A simple task to replace, and enjoy.

Heater hose diameter?

Post by TVST*R »

I want to test my heater valve (getting down to 59 here)
and need a length of hose to do it. It is currently bypassed.

What size hose is needed?
