I am one of your new members, I have had Spiders for quit a while but parked my 1980 Spider about 5 years ago and went on to other projects. I am working on it again getting it ready for the road, originally I was just going to paint it and leave it at that but in the process of getting it ready for painting I stripped it down far enough that i figured I might just as well do everything I always wanted to do anyway. Quite a while back I cut coils to lower the car but I cant remember just how much I cut, can anyone tell me the length of the original springs? also on the rear springs is there a way to keep the springs in the spring sockets when the car is jacked up, I noticed the top of the left spring was shifted to the outside when it was on the stands, I jacked the car up from the axle to keep them tight and it was out so it must have happened under driving conditions. To me it looks like a shorter shock is all I can do.

Ken,
As Mike Bouse always says "Welcome to the foum, and please don't forget to stop by the introductions section and tell us a little about yourself and your car."
See this topic: http://www.fiatspider.com/f08/viewtopic ... ing+length
The picture on the flickr site has been deleted some time ago, but the measurement was from the coil end/tip to the other end/tip. The tape measure will be at an angle.
