Track Day at Willow Springs, Jan 24-25

Post by So Cal Mark »

The Alfa Romeo Owners' Club is having a track weekend at Willow Springs Raceway, Jan 24th and 25th. You don't have to be a member to participate and they've invited any Fiat owners to come out. You must pre-register at their website. There is a drivers' school for unlicensed drivers, time trials and a race. Details at http://www.arosc.org

Hey! Finally an event that I don't have to travel 100 miles to get to. Willow Springs is right up the freeway from me. Cool.

Mark,

Are you planning to attend? I've been dying to get my car out on the track.

I'd also like to know if anyone is coming up for this. Maybe the Luxmores could host a BBQ after. If you haven't had my world famous potato salad yet you ain't livin'.

anybody know if I need to have roll-over protection for this event?

and as an aside; anyone got an inexpensive roll-bar for sale?

I'd join ya, as I've never minded being referred to as a track-rat.....

but if I'm driving to Willow (from Salt Lake City), I ain't just goin' to watch!!!

which begs the question:
If we put together a day at Miller (the best track in North America  ) next fall, how many would be in?

what!?!?!?!? :!:

no, I'm kidding.

It's 20 minutes west of the Salt Lake City airport, in a little town called Tooele. (pronounced tew-illa)

Designed by Alan Wilson and financed to the tune of over $200 million by the late Larry Miller, it was recognized by the FIA/FIM as the "Best new Motorsports Facility in the World" for 2006, the year it opened.

The track truly is world-class, as are the facilities. For those of us used to parking on gravel at racetracks, or running extension cords to our buddies' generators for tire-warmers, this track is nothing short of Mecca.

do a google of MMP, or Miller Motorsports Park, you'll see what I mean.

yes... it is pretty dang cool. My Avatar pic is me, out there in March '06, just before it opened. Since then, it has evolved into more than anyone can really imagine 'til they've been there.

I'll start a new thread at some point, and see if we can garner some interest in a Fiat day, or maybe an "Italian Day" out there. I've got friends over at our local Ferrari / Maserati / Fiat dealer who would probably love to be involved (they have an annual lease on a shop / garage out at the Track too!).

I'm sick and tired of not being able to race...

I'm gonna roll bar my car

anyone got one they need to sell?

My little Fiat is fast, and if the driver doesn't muck it up too bad, will do well.

email me if you have a roll bar you want to sell! trwsandford@yahoo.com
