Beauty rings on my steel wheel?

Post by TVST*R »

Are my steel wheels supposed to have beauty rings in
addition to the hubcaps?

I think I saw a wheel with them on the cover of the Vicks catalog
and here:

Where can I get these?

Not sure on the '78 steel wheel. The '79s did have the stainless steel beauty rim. I had 4 originals beat with curb rash. I found the beauty rims that were stock with my 95 Ford Escort steel wheels were a nearly perfect fit.

Can't remember if it was here or at http://www.flu.org a guy was talking about selling his steel rims with glamour rings, just this week.

My '80 came stock with glamour rings. Unfortunately for your question, the '78 came to me with aftermarket rims, and no before pictures.

Do you really think they will add all that much if you have chrome hub caps? One more thing to polish, one more thing to get curb rash.

Plenty-o-folk have switched to mag or alum wheels, keeping their steelies just in case. Ask around, bet some would be willing to part with the glamour for a few sheckles.

These cars are so small I never bring her close enough to the curb to risk curb rash.

My '78 came with english aluminum Turbine-style wheels. I'm looking to go stock. I've found a set of NOS hubcaps. Now I need steel wheels and beauty rings.

If you have problems finding wheels, I have a few sets but they will need stripped and painted.

I bought my beauty rings at a local parts supply house. If you have a problem coming up with some, I can check availability and see if they're willing to ship to you.

Oh great!...I'll watch the price...I would like to get some

Were you able to find some of these?

rust on chrome is not always a show stopper. mild rust (not pitted) may come off with a little scrubbing with mild steel wool.

then get some good paste chrome polish and a soft polishing wheel and have at 'er.

will make for a great 5 footer.

I don't know how I missed your post and I apologize for not following through. I called my vendor and he has two kinds:

Plastic set is $30
Stainless set is $50

Mine are the stainless.
