So Cal Meet and Greet Nov 11th

Post by So Cal Mark »

Hey So Cal guys, Balto Bernie will be here for one day only on November 11th, in the Pasadena area. I'm trying to organize an informal get-together in the early evening. Maybe 7ish? Respond if you can make it and we'll figure out somewhere for food and adult beverages :)

Ditto. Can I bring you guys anything? Rain? Frost? Some extra rush-hour traffic?

I might be able to make it. Coming from the OC I will have to check the traffic reports that night and make my decision. The N/B 5 and 57 can be pretty fugly in the evening.

Let's hope it's a warm night -- it's a stretch from here, but a worthy stretch to spend time with Mr. B.

Count me as a probably, though I'll likely still be driving my wife's big American SUV.

Traffic may be a little lighter as November 11 is a Federal holiday (Bernie's birthday :D ).

Probably doesn't make much difference in LA, but around here, the roads are empty on such days.

I assume you are coming for business, nobody comes to Pasadena for pleasure unless it's January 1. I live in Pasadena, if you need transportation I could run you around in my Silver Spider

Lots of great places to meet in Pasadena. My favorite is Crocodile Cafe - we've pulled together big tables there before. Cheesecake Factory is good, but I think it's harder to do a group there. Green Street is good. There's a Rubio's and a Tommy's Burgers.

Actually, I'm starting in Los Angeles 'cause that's where the airplanes go, to visit youse guys and a buddy from Redlands who may be joining us. My business travels begin the next day up the coast. Thanks for the transportation offer, but I'll be driving a XL-size Fiat rental convertible 8) , dropping it off in San Louie, then up to Seattle for some more, uh, business (and a stop at the Seattle Mystery Bookstore). And if I could suggest a venue, it would be a local or regional joint, as opposed to a national chain. When I travelled to OC regularly, there was this Mex place off MacArthur (I think), that was a converted gas station; tables in the bays and under the awning where the pumps used to be. Outstanding food, at least to us East-Coasters.

Hal, I grew up in Eagle Rock. I go to pasadena 4 pleasure. Never 4 the rose parade, I would rather watch grass grow. There are plenty of clubs and bars up and down ol town. Then there are the theatres at tha Paseo. Just had a huge b day party at Mijares 2 weeks ago. Then theres king taco for when the clubs close down. lol

I personally don't like the crowds of ol town. North Woods, good steaks(semi expensive) Clearmans Galley good burgers can be as noisy as you want(big parking lot)
