I've seen them on several 124 Sports, but that doesn't mean they were a stock item. My best guess is that it was a dealer-installed option. I can't say for sure.

I do know it was not stock in 1981 when I bought mine new. The only stripes were dealer installed accent stripes or the wider stripes that came on the Turbo Spider.

I just bought a dark gold decal setjust like that on Ebay for $4.05. It's in great shape. It's going to go on my red spider.
I think some dealers were really into the large-scale lower body decalling. The spider I had in high school was green with a beige triple stripe treatment, andf my buddy's navy blue spider had a wicked multi-blue fade stripe. Many of the other spiders in town had some sort of decals in that area. I guess the area dealer was decal-happy (las vegas).

Here's the best image I've seen so far of the stripe on the turbo.

there's 2 of the non-turbo Fiat stripe kits on Ebay right now. Both black.

Love that blue body color on the turbo, hate the stripe. IMHO stripes of any type detract from the Spider's purity of line.

The stripes are a funny phenomenon. The Spider has such crisp lines and looks so nice without stripes. But, there are times that I see the stripes and really like them...then I don't. I used vinyl tape stripes on my '79. I've put them on, taken them off, and put them on again. I can never decide which way I like it better.

I recall looking at the Turbo in '81. The stripes were considered really "cool" back then....of course so were bell bottom trousers!
