When you got your first Fiat, did you notice....

Post by cutchaguy »

....all the other people you know that tell you they have a Fiat too?

My Father-in-Law has a 1978 Fiat Spider. His wife and kids didn't know. His car buddy just told me tonight that he has a 1500 and a 1600 and I think one more.

Is this some sort of super-secret club, like Fight-Club, that no one admits to being in unless you actually own one?

i came out of the store one day to see a guy about 67-70 years old, and seriously well over 6'8" tall leaning over my car with his hands behind his back. peering into the cockpit, longingly.

when he saw me, he said "I had an MG just like this once".
I replied... "REALLY!" i chuckled as a drove away.

the most sincere form of flattery is imitation. and when they cannot imitate, they pretend to imitate.

I am Katsi's Fiat - that guy has no clue as to what he's doing.

I love Fight Club!

When I first got mine new in 79, nobody "came clean" about their ownership, but everyone wanted to know 2 things:
Why did you buy another car? (I had 4 other ones at the time)
When can I go for a ride?
My legally blind Italian father in law was always ready to go for a ride anytime anywhere and we'd head off to a good resturaunt, especially a coney island as his wife had him on a sensless restricted diet. Someone would always ask about the car and he was prepared to answer any question they had.
He also stored the car for me every winter and I found out later that he religiously started the car every week and stood by all the while it was running checking every last detail, more by sound than sight. He also kept the keys locked up somewhere to prevent anyone from trying the unthinkable and the cover was always on the car.
I also talked to my younger brother a few weeks ago and he recalled fond memories of many a trip up north to the Alpena area. Being ever the stoner, he mentioned how fast he thought the car was until he learned that the car was meant to be driven. His reference point at the time was a Pinto station wagon. Crikey.
