I'm also looking for an early "black box" style voltage regulator for my 69' 124. Anyone know of a source (new/used/rebuilt) for these? I thought mine was fine until I destroyed a vintage style tartop battery yesterday!
Thanks!

Re: Early Voltage Regulator
Some of the repair manuals describe how to check and rebuild the external type voltage regulators. I think the Haynes manual covers it.
The external voltage regulators were used for 68-76 cars. I have a used one from a 76 if you want it, worked when pulled from the car.

Re: Early Voltage Regulator
I've got one from my '72 you can have for the price of shipping. I upgraded to a newer alt and felt bad tossing it.
