New 2.0L with TBs Fitted

You can also get a good look at the Ford Tempo, 95 amp alternator all wired up and ready to go. Hopefully will bring her to life this weekend. I like the clean look without the dizzy (distributor-less ignition)

I really like the way that looks. How do you plan on plumbing the fuel lines? Hardline adapters from the stock lines or new ones straight back to the tank?

For now, hardline adaptors.

Didn't get it fired up this weekend, as had to correct a problem with the clearance between the cam towers and the fuel injector connections (having a 6mm spacer plate made to move the manifold away from the head); had to move the throttle cable inkage to the number one TB, as running it through the middle as shown caused interference with any airbox fitting properly (will post new pics when I have time); the exhaust header contacts the block (still working on that, but seems to be easy to resolve); had to order 20mm airhorns (versus the 50mm shown), as that is the max height that will allow 40mm over the top of the horns for the air column to build properly, while still being able to fit th airbox under the hood.

Maybe another month, by the time it is really sorted out.

I am definitely interested in how your final throttle linkage design works out. I am still having trouble with mine.

Here are pics of the throttle cable/linkage solution. Seems to work great with very smooth take up and very consistent return stops. Should work well.

Its a little hard for me to see the linkage because the pictures are so small. It looks like you have the linkage coming out the firewall in the usual location, going behind the head to something I cant see on the other side and looping back around to connect on the forward side of the throttle bodies? Have any pictures with more detail?

Again, I really like the look of your setup and look forward to seeing pictures of the airbox.

Maybe theise two photos will help. In the first, which shows the 2.oL, reinforced crossmember, you can also see the throttle linkage setup that takes the it from the firewall on the drivers side, across the back of the engine to the drivers side. In the second, the engine is out and you can see the entire linkage setup. The cable is tucked away, but that is nthe cable that now runs on the forward edge of the engine to the #1 TB. This is the setup I have used for years for dual IDFs, as it is a "pull" sytem, and extremely consistent as it relates to locating the throttle plates when you return the idle position. This is critical to get a dual carbed car to idle smoothly and consistently with the carbs, and should be great with the FI system as well. Also very smooth in operation a nd take up, and virtually trouble free.

Rey - I'll be back home the weekend after next, and will have to measure that for you. If I can, will get it for you sooner.

no rush, do those throttle bodies only work vertically. could they be mounted horizontally? i have a croft side draft manifold.

Rey - I suspect they would work horizontally, but the clearance problem with the MC is still there. One of these days I wnat to experiment with a forward facing manifold with TBs mounted on them
