KYB shocks

Post by mdrburchette »

As many of you know, a bunch of us are working on building a Lemons racer and yesterday was the day we were going to do the suspension. What a laugh that was! We didn't even get the brakes on the car due to circumstances beyond our control, but that's another story. We found the shocks on this car were bad so I scrounged around my parts and found some KYB Gas-adjust white shocks that look like they've never been installed on a car before. Does anyone have any experience to share about these shocks? Are they going to be good for this race? We're planning to cut the springs 1 coil all the way around to help lower and stiffen it up a bit.

Circumstances beyond our control is spelled R-U-S-T !!! You would think if someone was gonna give you a car, they would make sure its free of corrosion  The best moment of the day wasnt captured on film.Since we couldnt get the front wheels back on,3 of us picked up the front while Denise sat on the trunk. We then rolled it out of the garage like a little Italian wheelbarrow
ps Denise ,I heard from Geoff. He was in Amsterdam, headed for Hanover,Germany today. They had a bad travel day but it was fine,They met some Aussies and Americans on the train and had a all day party !!

Great to hear about Geoff!
I tried to take a pic of the fiasco, but by the time I jumped off the back of the car and got my camera, the guys were too tuckered to pose for the picture.

the Gas-A-Jus shocks are stiff, so they'll probably work well for your race car. They are so stiff that they may raise the height though, especially if the car has been lightened

I agree with Mark, They are a firm shock that will raise the height of the car. Mostly in the back though. If you guys are racing offroad, one good bump and you might put the front shock through the top mount. On a race course where it is flat, should be no problem. They do stiffen up the ride.
I love the rip cord that you get with those shocks.

Thanks for the info guys. They are called Gas Adjust...does that mean they can be adjusted like the Koni's? If so, how do you adjust them?

No adjustment. My thought is that YOU have to adjust to the ride they give you. Really they have a dampering system that automatically adjusts differently from small bumps to large bumps.

the real name is Gas-A-Just, which I believe is translated to "just a gas shock" :)

Its bound to be an improvement from what was on the car.The front drivers side shock I pulled out of that car was locked up completely! :|
