Clay Bar on Fiat Paint

Post by mbassler »

Hello,

Has anyone used a clay bar on their original Fiat paint? Or what other rubbing compound was used to clean the finish before wax or polish. I have a friend really pushing Mirage polish over a wax-free finish? Anyone out there tried this before?

thanks

The clay bar shouldn't cause a problem with the original paint since it's just picking up impurities on the surface. Isn't the original paint enamel? Are you going to have to buff the paint to bring out the true color? I like using a polish vs a wax on my cars.

Denise is right, a clay bar is non-abrasive so it won't damage the paint. Without knowing the thickness of the paint, you should be very careful using abrasive polshes/waxes. As a general rule, you should use the finest grit polish possible to achieve the desired level of shine. And then protect the finish with a non-abrasive wax.
