What is the difference in performance between the resurface head and a 1800 on a 2000 engine? What's the best option?

I'll let you know in a month or so. I'm putting a 1800 head onto a 2L fi block. head had 5 thou. taken off. I'm with the undestanding the engine will have a bit more compression and hopefully mid-range pull.
The engine should,I hope, be in the car around end June sometime. Meanwhile enjoying the stock with headers.

Where the headers any improve to the stock engine?

I think so. I also have the cat. removed and put a by-pass pipe in. Seems to have more pull from the previous setup.
