Re: New head
I don't know much about modifying a head, but I know when I see something pretty! That's pretty.

Re: New head
The tapered valve guides are an important mod that really increases flow. I am suing GC's in my new 2.0L engine. Flow is increased y as much as 16% over stock guides according to flow bench tests GC has conducted. If those are big valves and you use decent cams, you will definitely feel the HP gain over stock.

Very nice work! Are you running the 40 idfs or going with the 44s? What size intake cam are you using? One thing I would consider is drilling holes in the oil "dams" so the oil is routed more quickly to the oil returns and it doesn't have to pool up and go over the dams.

Re: New head
I dont think those holes in the oil dam are GC's design.Could that be a RB modification? I think I drilled those holes on that head(fine craftsmanship!)

Re: New head
Craig, you're right. This is an RB mod but this is the head that's currently on my 72. I believe this mod also helps with keeping oil leaks down and it GC approved.ga.spyder wrote:I dont think those holes in the oil dam are GC's design.Could that be a RB modification? Re: New head
Hi daniel!
GC didnt do my head, it was a friend of me in Norway ( nicname Abarthnorway at GC homesite), that made the head for me . Inclusiv the head + all parts and work it cost med approx 11000,- NOK ( 1600$).
I have got a totally different car now, soooo much quicker and stronger. We still have some minor problems with jettings I think. I am running 140 main and 175 air right now, will try 180-190 air later. The timing is set at 10 BTDC.
When I give max throttle it has problems at approx 4000 rpm. When I solve the problem I will dyno the car , and post it on this forum .
Best regards

Re: New head
Sweet looking engine, FMO! I now think I should have powder-coated the cam boxes as well as the covers.
When tuning Webers, remember that air jets are "backwards" from main and idle jets. The larger size in air jets is leaner, not richer, because it is letting in more air.
I'm off to the dyno tomorrow myself; fingers crossed!

Re: New head
Not yet, Denise. Lost ignition at 4,800 RPM; either Pertronix problem sensing cam lobes or bad new Facet cap/rotor. Also some difficulties with 38DGS that I hope Redline or Mark's answer to a similar question can get this sorted out in the next two weeks. Tuner estimates 115 SAE when all is right; 80 RWHP @ 4,500 now with no jetting or timing tweaks. She really wants to run. Between 2,500 and 4,000 revs now -- wow!
