Hi dudes, just take out the spider from winter storage but realise that muffler is dead. Do you know where can I find an exhaust system from down pipe to muffler. Want to bypass catalytic converter. Dont know if someone try with and without the resonator. I found a terrific system with resonator at Stebro here in Ontario but it is still 1250$ and in stainless. Dont want to spend 1250$ for exhaust!!!!

Would like to find something good in mild steel and cheapest. I found Ansa twin tips for 189$ for the muffler only. Will be great but looking for the bypass pipe also. Looking for something bolt on if possible.
Thank's for your help!!!!

Re: Exhaust system - Replacement
I bought my by-pass from Ital motors in Edmonton. It seems a tad short but with a bit of jigging(wire) the pipe does not rub against the axel well or pan rod (think thats what it is called) (lower axel to upper axel) Also had a set of ansa headers.
Lots of stuff available in the states but our dollar kind of sucks at the moment.

i don't know how they work it up there, but here, even with zero emissions testing in Michigan if you drive into an exhaust shop with the cat on the car...they will not replace the system without adding a new cat.

Re: Exhaust system - Replacement
No emissions testing on anything older than 1988 in Ontario. I forget the Quebec law but believe it's similar. Muffler shops are happy to get the work! My Ansa has a resonator about halfway back and it's a nice sound. Without the resonator, it might be a little raunchy. I had a Stebro originally (years ago) and it was very raunchy. You should be able to find a suitable straight pipe/bypass arrangement through Midas or similar. If you want to do it yourself, take lots of measurements and go to NAPA or Partsource.mbouse wrote:i don't know how they work it up there, but here, even with zero emissions testing in Michigan if you drive into an exhaust shop with the cat on the car...they will not replace the system without adding a new cat.

Re: Exhaust system - Replacement
Hi dudes, it's a fact here in Quebec we do not have any kind of inspection for emission control. Thank's for your reply. It will help.
Re: Exhaust system - Replacement
My car is a 78 without a cat, and I live in a no-emissions-tesing county. I used a 4-2-1 downpipe (e-bay for $100), 1.75 inch tubing (installed by a decent, local muffler shop for less than $200), no resonators and a small Magnaflow muffler (e-bay for $75). Sound quantity -- medium high to high. Sound quality -- I think it sounds great. I am almost up to speed re posting photos on this forum. Until then I can e-mail photos if that's helpful for anyone.
