Clutch sound

Post by henry »

Hello everyone,

I just change the disk clutch, it works fine, but after a week I can hear a sound when in neutral that goes off when I press the clutch. Is this normal?

Comments please,

Thank you.

it's normal for a transmission with worn bearings

Thank you for the replay, the transmission was completely rebuild about a year ago.

Is your clutch cable and pedal adjusted properly? Your throwout bearing could be in constant contact with the clutch cover plate. Adjust the cable at the throw out arm. The pedal should depress 1 inch before resistance is felt. That 1 inch of movement at the pedal equates to 2mm of movement at the throw out bearing. There should be 2mm of clearance batween the throw out bearing and the clutch plate with the pedal not depressed.

Thank you for your response.

I will check adjustments tomorrow, I applied an additive to the transmission oil, but the sound is still there.

Could it be the flywheel problem I've never refaced it.

Henry.

Wouldn't be the flywheel. I would also be very careful about putting "additives" in the tranny. The soft metal syncros are very vulnerable to the wrong type of oil. GL-1 only, or you could do serious damage over time.
