Ok thanks, the replacement I got has threaded studs so I assumed the original was held in with nuts.

Now you got me thinking, they were studs until 82. Might have switched in 83 to nuts. If you cant see nuts on the inside of the trunk where the badge is, then I think it is just press fit. Is the 83 still the round FIAT badge?

The badge on there now, which I believe to be original but can't say for sure, is the round pininfarina F symbol. same on the front. I guess an 83 would be an Azzura so I bought the azzura sail badge which I like. there is a layer of sheet metal under the badge location making it seemingly impossible to reach the back. I'll try to carefully pry it out.

If I can remember, the Round f was the 83 logo and the Sails badge for the Azzurra was for the 1984 model, named after the 1984 Italian race yacht for the Americas Cup. I always say, its your car...put on what you want.

That structural metal on the underside of the trunk was there on all spiders and would make it impossible to attach nuts to a badge with the 3/8" of area to work in. That is why I think the 83's still pop off. If the Azzurra logo has studs, then in 1984, they may have moved to bolting it down, your going to have to find a way to make it attach, as after you remove the F logo you will see the stud difference.

Pininfarina badges (both round & square) used larger clips and they are very difficult to get to. There is no grooves (it's just straight pegs) so they used clips. It seems the only way to get off is to pry it off.

The clips are not the same size as the Fiat and you cannot replace them (trust me - I tired to find them and ended up send all the one's back that were "supposed" to fit). So if you do get them off, keep in mind to save the clips. I am still working on trying to get my side badges off. They used a metal stud that acts similar to a wall stud so it is impossible to pull off. We took the center dash one off (same metal clips), but we took apart the dash to get to it from the other side.

The sail badge is on all of the Pininfarina trunk lid's - for all year's (including my '85). They were all called Azzurra until 1985. The '83 had the round F badge in front and the sail boat in the back.

Good luck & I hope that helps!

Here's the pictures I promised the last time. Our camera is terrible so please forgive me.

Back side of the badge plus correct clips. If your badges were replaced at some point then they are probably glued on (very common).
