tCooling Sys Pressure Tester

Post by CarlaRWG »

I'm looking for input on a cooling system pressure tester. I need to test the system once I replace the heater core and valve and was thinking that buying one maybe more practical than having it done considering I may have to do it again and again.

It is my understanding that the ones that screw in are better for one man operations than the other kind.

Question: where can I pick up one that is good for a 1980 Fiat?

most pressure testers attach to the radiator neck in place of the pressure cap. What other kind are you asking about?

From what I've been reading two basic models are made the type that attach and the type that you have to hold in place which makes if a two man job (one to hold, one to pump)

I'd stay away from one you have to hold in. The compression testers in that style are useless

mine is a Stant, you might check a napa store, or just stop a tool truck. It would help if you purged all the air out before testing, make sure to let off the pressure before removing tester, getting sprayed in the face and tasting anti freeze is not cool!
