Re: Is this for real?
For those of us who are still learning about Fiats, what makes this one so special and expensive?
Re: Is this for real?
The performace and scarcity of Abarth produced Fiats makes them highly sought after. The validity of this one is questionable, in that there are very little details given to confirm that this is indeed an Abarth original, and not a look-alike.

So, how do you tell a genuine one for sure?
Re: Is this for real?
i heard that the chicago boyz are gonna go look at it this week. they are highly suspicious of its validity, as am I.
any vehicle worth $20k is worth at least a half dozen hi resolution pictures, wouldn't you think? even Wayne Carini personally snaps a few pictures before he places an Ebay auction.

Re: Is this for real?
Ron, a quick way to tell is the Abarth Spider has independent rear suspension, alloy doors, fiberglass hood, bumperettes. But you have to check a lot of other things beside the engine also.

Re: Is this for real?
Other pointers include: lightened (drilled out) door hinges, lightweight door panels, lightened sills, fuel filler forward of trunk lid rather than on top of rear LHS fender, rectangular exhaust pipe cutout instead of circular, no centre console, aluminium dashboard panels, no glovebox, fibreglass trunk lid, no armrests on door panels, cloth trimmed deep bucket seats... and a bunch of other minor variations.
IRS is probably the easiest giveaway. If it has a solid rear axle it's no Abarth.
If it is an Abarth however it's a snap at that price.

Re: Is this for real?
You would sure think they would bother to post more pictures. I thought the Abarth rollbar had squared corners.

Re: Is this for real?
I emailed him and his reply was that the car was obscured behind other products in his warehouse. If the car does not sell in this auction he will take the car out into the daylight and take many pictures of it.
Is it real or a scam?? Agreed one picture of the under side will be the proof.

Re: Is this for real?
I'll bet ya its real. Has the right vents in the hood, Its the right year, has the bucket seats, right headlight trim rings, bumpers.
In person will verify this, but my bet is real.
