Renewed Hello from Longmont Colorado

Post by parkcity124 »

Hello all:

I spent a lot of time with a 1978 124 Spider, and sold it two years ago.

I re-acquired it a few weeks ago. It looked like a barn find with the top down, very dirty, in a small garage. A 123Ignition distributor was sitting on the fender, no distributor was installed.

Now it is back. New battery, new clutch (Sachs), old distributor with old pertronix. The windshiled and steering wheel are clean, everything else is still dirty. The steering, suspention and brakes feel right, up to my current top speed of 60 mph. It idles and drives pretty good. It has working lights, horn, ventilation, etc. It is a solid low-mile car with Konis, 14" panasports, Empi carb, aluminum radiator, early exhaust manifold, ss brake lines, Momo wheel, all Blaupunkt sound, H4s, original lower engine cover, etc. Rust free but unfortunately more than one paint job, with the faded original top still present.

The shifter rattles. The cd player appears to work but no sound. Clunking sound from right rear (sounds like the trunk or exhaust, but who knows).

I have the original air pump and most of the plumbing. My plan is to have it licensed and have those issued addressed by spring 2025.

Selling the 123Ignition with Bremi cap and rotor. Selling an Optima battery dated 9/22.

This forum has helped me in the past, quite a bit.
