Today is the first 'top-up' day we've had since May. Yes, I despise the season of fall. It means only one thing: winter is coming. The north-east sky is grey and ominous with winds blowing NNE at 15 - yuk! NOT a beach day, but a perfect
day for a carwash. Off to the local car supplies shop we went. We came upon a terrific product for reducing the cloudiness of the plastic window in the convertible top. Being unsure of protocol on this site regarding brand names, I will tell you the product was worth every penny of the four dollars spent on it. I would highly recommend it. We even used it on the plastic headlight, tailight and every other plastic lens on our other vehicles. Between all four cars, not even a third of the bottle was used and all the plastic looks years younger. I've been searching for a great product to use on the plastic window and finally found one!

Please tell us what you've found! We don't have a problem with having brand names mentioned...good or bad.

Re: Rearview Plastic Product
The product is made by Meguiar's and is called PLASTX. Since dinner, I've been trying it on every piece of see-thru plastic in the shed. Same result; reduced cloudiness and improved visual clarity. I'm debating on trying it on the shower liner in the bathroom next. If this stuff gets rid of soapscum, I'll save a bundle at the dollar store!

Cool. Let me know how it does with soap scum. It's a bummer dragging the buffer into the bathroom.

Re: Rearview Plastic Product
I had to see it to believe it. I applied a six inch area (at the bottom where the liner hangs into the bathtub-the most gross part) of each product, the PLASTX and the product, Works, that I usually scrub the tub with. The liner is clear. I can read the newspaper thru it. Simply amazing. I've got to get a case of this stuff! Explaining this one to my husband is going to be great! I'm sure he will have no problem moving his carwash-toolcarrier from the shed into the house!

That is a great product. I use it on all my cars. Works great on the rear window, but also on other plastic parts like headllight covers, tailights, dash gauges, etc.

Hey John,
My wifes van has pitted, discolored lens cover over the headlights.Did you use this product on this ,or similar? Were the results positive? I have seen some products that are made to ''recondition'' headlight covers ,they seem overpriced to me. I detailed aircraft years ago and Meguiars Mirrorglaze was the only product that could be used on the windscreens.Came in 4 levels of aggresiveness.

Re: Rearview Plastic Product
Craig,
The PlastX product is a lighter duty polish for minor surface scratches or mild cloudiness. If your lenses are pretty far gone -- yellow, pitted, etc. -- I would go with something a little more agressive. You mentioned Mirrorglaze. They do sell a Mirrorglaze product that is recommended for headlights: http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars1017.html. For $20, it would be worth a try. Even if the headlights don't come out as good as new, I'm sure the improvement would be noticable (and a lot cheaper than replacing them).
