New Member from Massachusetts

I have owned my 1981 Spider 2000 since 1984. I bought it with a broken engine. The girl who owned it thought the muffler was failing when what she was really hearing was the engine hammering itself to death.
She had let it run out of oil and one of the big ends ran followed by the cap bolts breaking. The free end of the con rod was hit by the crankshaft and punched a hole in the crankcase.
Needless to say I got it cheap!
I rebuilt the engine with new rod and main bearings, one new piston and a new set of rings on all four cylinders. The cylinder bores and crankshaft were in fine condition. I used epoxy to plug the hole in the crankcase.
The engine had 40,000 miles on it.
It has been used regularly ever since and now has 150,000 miles. The engine runs perfectly with no oil or water consumption. The epoxy patch is still in place.
It has had a couple of body jobs and is now in nice usable condition.
