1983 124 FI spider starts but won't accelerate

I Have a 1983 124 spider. It starts and runs at idle but it won't accelerate when I depress the throttle. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

A plugged up cat will cause this problem. So if you still have the cat check that first.

Have you checked the distributor spark advance with a timing light?
