Hello, everyone. Just wanted to pop up and introduce myself. I live in NE Ohio and just picked up a 1977 124 Spider off FB Marketplace as a project. I’ve cut my teeth restoring and customizing old Japanese and European motorcycles as a hobby for about 10 years, so I see the Spider as a great next step up in difficulty (and hopefully fun). I really appreciate the posts I’ve reviewed so far and the general helpful nature of the members. Whenever I start a project I always seek out a forum, and the helpfulness of that group usually makes a big difference. So I’m looking forward to posting more here. Enough chit chat, here’s how she sat when I bought her:
She runs and drives, but could use a timing belt change and a general once-over. Lots of body work in my future for sure. Since I don’t know what’s under all that primer I’ll probably end up stripping it. Factory color was “selestic blue”, which I hate and is so unpopular there’s almost no pictures of it on the internet except this BaT auction:

I’m also super excited to sort through all the unlabeled trims pieces from the PO’s 4 included totes. /s

Hi Barnburner,
welcome to this site and congratulation to your purchase! Car looks as a good base, which color is your favorite?
Your discovered "selestic blue" must be 462 medium blue popular color in the 70ies see here:
You are from Nebraska? A region with less Spider in US. The worldwide Spider Register just counts 21 cars for your state:

Would be great to get your car data for no.22 for NE in the Register, thank you!
Good luck with your project!
Bye Ralf

Re: New Spider Project in NE Ohio
Thanks for the welcome. I've always been partial to simple black/grey/white, but the lines on this (and my wife) are begging for some color. I was thinking of a light green over black, but she's pushing for the old rosso corsa.
I'm in Ohio, which has more Spiders on the Registry, but not mine so I will be sure to add it!

I'm in the East Side Cleveland burbs. I have seen exactly two other Spiders in our area in the seven years or so that I've had mine. Glad to hear there's another one that will be on the road!
