Brake Line fitting size

Post by davefrancisco »

I am replacing my master cylinder in the near future and want to also do the brake lines as well. Hoping to save some money by sourcing these from the local auto parts store and I'm trying to make sure I have the correct fittings and line.

What I found on the forum was line size is 3/16" and the fittings are M10x1.25, however did not see a confirmation of this on the responses to this question.

Can anyone confirm this is the correct line size and fitting?

Thanks

Dave

I have brake line nuts I purchased from one of the Fiat vendors(A/R or Vicks) and they are 3/16" line size 10mm x 1.25 thread. I was not able to find premade lines in the 1.25 pitch at the local parts stores. I believe 1.0 was the common pitch. I only had one to do so I made the bubble using a standard double flare tool. After a few practice attempts I was able to make one by changing the amount of tubing sticking out of the clamp and not finishing the flare. It worked fine and sealed on the first go but if I had a set to do I would buy the proper tool. OTC makes one that is quite reasonable.

Thanks for the help and advice on the tool needed. I only have one line to make, so I plan on doing it myself.
