I was surprised to learn that we weren't already registered here.
I've been in the Fiat 124 game since 1980 when I took over my fathers 1969 124 Sport Coupe, and there have been 40+ Fiats since then.
We currently have 9 Fiats on the Farm.

Awesome, and you've got me beat. I took over my father's 1969 124 Sport Spider, but there have been only 18+ Fiats since then, and I'm down to two currently. No farm, either.FiatFarm wrote:I took over my fathers 1969 124 Sport Coupe, and there have been 40+ Fiats since then.

The name Fiat Farm came about in 1990. The old 124's were plentiful and cheap.
I had two '69 124 Coupes and I bought a '74 Coupe for parts out of the newspaper. I rented a tow dolly and had a buddy help me.
The next day I spotted a '68 Spider in the paper and went and got it before returning the tow-dolly. Later that afternoon my same buddy came over to find I had another Fiat since he had left the day before, and he said;..."..what? Are you growing them?!"
And the operation has been called Fiat Farm ever since.
This is the '72 Sport Coupe I used for my forum entry.
ed; this is a link from a FB photo, but I don't see it

My story is kinda similar. My dad had his first mid-life crisis, so be bought the red '69 spider (I still have it). He had his second mid life crisis about a decade later and bought a '78 spider. About that time, I was learning how to work on cars, and since we lived in a very small town where we were practically the only people who had Fiats, people would call us and say, "Hey, you know Jimbo out in the county has 2 Fiat coupes in his field that he wants towed away!" So I'd buy them cheap, get them running (often just a blown head gasket or the like) and then sell them for a little bit of spending money.
One thing led to another and here we are.

I didn't know you were allowed to have two midlife crises. I can't wait!

Well, the plot actually thickens in my dad's case. He bought the '69 spider when he was about to have his second child, and then, when it become apparent that the first child (me) would "inherit" that '69 spider at some point, my mom bought him the '78 spider to make him feel better. I'm sure he would have a different interpretation, but that's how I saw things...stuartrubin wrote:I didn't know you were allowed to have two midlife crises. I can't wait!
As I near 60, I think I missed my chance for a mid-life crisis and am moving quickly into geezer-dom. Complain about the price of gas, these kids today, the Tax Man, that sort of thing.

Cheers Ralf
