I posted this 3 yrs ago. Going to have to address this soon. Looking for advise on the fix. What's involved and parts required. I've read some posts on rebuilding the tranny but seems they ended up finding a used one as the rebuild didn't solve their problem. I'm hoping that instead of a complete rebuild I could just change specific parts to solve the problem.
hey y'all
It's been a nice summer with my 77. Short drives every weekend, 500 miles on the rebuild engine feels like it's all good. One issue I'm having every now and then, is it will pop out of first gear ( violently). Can some tell me what the cause/fix is. Thanks

Before you do anything expensive, I would lower the transmission and find the detent hold down plate. Open that up. Inside are three beans and three springs, if memory serves. Replace those and change your transmission fluid.
Maybe, just maybe that will fix your issue.
