OK, I've ordered the O2 sensor, should be here Wed.
Bryan said "Since the car is running fine, it's likely that your oxygen sensor is still OK, although I would eventually get it replaced. But, even if you replace the sensor, the warning light will stay on until you reset it by pressing a switch on that device on the back of the speedometer. Again, going by memory here."
I just had the instrument cluster out and I don't recall seeing any type of reset switch for the O2 sensor. Can anyone be more specific as to what, and where, and how?

Re: More questions from Grampa about O2 sensor
The reset is above the brake, Indicator reset, according to manual. A wire secures a cap screw. Remove the cap screw, insert a screwdriver and press on contact. This will reset to high point on the wheel.
Located under the dash to the right of steering column.

Gramps, AKA Rog, sounds like Tima has done a good job of answering your question. And, even in the off chance you have to replace the sensor while on the road but can't reset the mileage counter, your car should still run fine. Plus, my experience is that once you get on the road, Fiats drive for many many miles without issue. Most of my problems have been local, but I've done several East-Coast-to-West-Coast-or-Vice-Versa trips in my '69 with no issues. Go figure.

Thanks Tima,

Let's see if I've got this straight
"The reset is above the brake, Indicator reset, according to manual." "Located under the dash to the right of steering column."
I get down on the floor , look under the dash and above the brake (pedal?) and I'll see the "indicator reset." How will I know what it looks like?
Remember, your talking at a geezer here. AND at 80 yrs old I'm probably gonna be trying to direct a grandson that has limited mechanical aptitude. OK so now I'm lookin' for "A wire secures a cap screw. " I'm not sure what that means. Anywho I remove this cap screw and I "insert a screwdriver and press on contact." I think by now you can tell I'm totally confused.
I think I'm gonna need a little more detail. Is this process printed out some where or do you know this by experience? Could I talk to you by phone?

DRUMMOND,
OUTSTANDING! Thank you so much!
I really need to thank all of you that have responded with advice, suggestions, and information.
I was very fortunate to find this "critter in the barn" and in such good condition. I am even more fortunate to find all of you who are so willing to help and tolerate this old geezer..
Thanks again and I'm sure I'll have more questions in the future..
