All,
I was a member way back in 1988, and let that lapse.
I just bought a 1971 Fiat 124 Sport Spider, and am rejoining/rejoicing . . .
It is nice to be here and meet you all.

HI
and welcome back! How about rust? Where did the car come from? Nice to see some pics!
b.t.w.: the worldwide Spider register only counts 9 B-series Spider (BS/BS1) in Wisconsin, two 71 Spider included!

Is your car already listed?
Bye Ralf
PS: bought my car 1988, still the same!

Re: New/Old Member from Milwaukee, WI
Ralf,
No rust to speak of. Rather amazing, that. I bought it from the owner in Minneapolis, MN, and drove it home to Milwaukee. Needed a bit of carburetor work; the little press-fit shaft that anchors the vacuum choke pivot had worked its way completely loose, and the car was idling at 3800 rpm by the time I got to Milwaukee. Since then I have simply been taking things apart and cleaning them. My plan is to clean it to within an inch of it's life, and let it experience the world with a 49 year patina; dents and all . . .
67,000 miles with lots of little picky things that need attention.
And maybe this image shows up.
Thank you for your interest,
mike

Re: New/Old Member from Milwaukee, WI
Mike, I also have a '71 spider that I have gone through pretty extensively the past year or so, so ask away with any technical questions (I suggest using the technical area of this forum). The only thing I didn't take apart was the engine and transmission, but those are a future project as they both seem to work just fine for now. Oh, and the only thing I did on the differential was the input seal, but the differential seems happy for now.
Funny, it sounds like your '71 has less rust than mine, which is odd since mine is "supposedly" from Southern California. Luckily, my rust is a cosmetic issue only.
Anyway, Welcome!
