Will not turn off !!

hard to believe but my most recent issue is with the ignition. the car runs fine, turns over and starts normally, but when I turn the ignition switch off, the car continues to run !! I have consulted our friends at Vicks, they recommended that I disconnect the two white connectors just down stream of the switch to isolate the switch itself, but no joy, it kept running .. recommendations on where to look next?
