Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out where to put my iPhone so I can see my phone when I drive and use Waze. So if I could see pics of your set ups as an inspiration it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Suction cup mount on the left side of the glove box door is where I put mine.
Its my speedometer since they were not able to get a good match on the speedometer cable when they installed the Isuzu Turbo Diesel and matching MSG5 transmission in the Spider.

Agree with the put the phone down when driving the spider. However, for a map application like Waze a suction cup to the windshield glass will work.
Buon giro a tutti! - enjoy the ride!

I can't do that, I need Waze to tell me where the cops are.GeorgeT wrote:Seriously, put the phone in your pocket and enjoy driving the car.

I put a magnetic mount on the dash. It's glued down, but small, so when not used it is unobtrusive. The phone has a magnetic plate glued to the case and I just stick it up there when I need it. It's the greatest invention ever. I put it in all my cars. The one I use is no longer for sale, but this is a similar one.

Re: Cell phone holder... Where did you place it?
I went for the "kill 2 birds..." approach and bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077M9SRPK/ref=dp_prsubs_1
I insert it between the passenger seat and the center console when I want to use it, and pull it out when not needed. Doesn't interfere much with seating area/space for passenger. And solves the "where do I put my beverage?" quandary. Phone fits in middle rectangle area and tilts back making Waze very functional...just a little hard to see time/distance remaining part of the screen. Combined with blue-tooth radio, get the Waze alerts through radio to let me know when there might be a person/incident of "interest" up ahead. (I set alert audio to zero volume, so all that happens is radio volume decreases for about 2 seconds to alert you).
my $0.02
Cheers

I like the in your pocket. I hate even having it with me when I am driving. I traveled all over this country in the lower 48 states with just using a good old paper map and never got lost once. As for speed apps I ran an old pickup with just using a tach for a lot of years when I was a teen and never got a ticket. RPM = speed use what you have, leave the distraction at home and enjoy the scenery.

Waldo: That looks great! As we're planning at some longer roadtrips in the spider, this would provide some flexibility--my wife definitely misses a cupholder and place for HER phone..........
I remember my father having a little plastic cupholder that fit into the window slot on his '71 Alfa spider for coffee. Amazon still sells them for about $5 bucks. I also remember a lot of spilled coffee on early Saturday morning fun rallies whenever we hit a bump or crossed railroad tracks!

Re: Cell phone holder... Where did you place it?
New member with big plan: My "77 124 came without the rectangular center wood part of the Dash.
***Plan is to put a flip down cup + Cell phone holder there. Blank wood when not used/flipped up.Re-Veneer all wood of course :D ***
Help request here:
Working on this after getting a bit O phone/blog help with taking the Pollution controls off. Mess of hoses + ?plugs->carb. side
Disconnected bunch of stuff beyond my mechanical pay grade with wonderful help from a pal who helped me install a NEW RUSSIAN trans...
Already placed the wiper reostat where the Cig. Lighter was. toggle Switch for "wiper-On" where missing light was.
I'll post pictures and let those of you who are curious about a new trans option.I'll let you know how it GOES. Old trans w/54K worked fine, just sloppy (Rubber bushing I'm told). Now anxious to get her off the blocks and on da road for fall color show.
Any quick responses or referrals much appreciated.
