Hi All,
So on Norma, the drivers window does not touch the rubber on the rear 1/4 window. When i had the door card off adjhusted the tilt of the window mechanism the max allowable in the slotted hole, but there is still a big gap. Never having replaced a top, i don't know if there is any adjustment in that system to push the rear window assemblies "wider" or not. Advice please, from more than just Bryan .
cheers

Re: DS window to 1/4 window gap
The mounting point for the top (just behind the doors) has up/down, fore/aft adjustments. But inboard/outboard adjustment is facilitated by shims between body and roof frame. If there are no shims to remove, going "wider" isn't an option. The rubber weatherstrip attached to the 1/4 window trim has 2 channels. On my 80 the inner channel has the metal insert to grip the trim flange. If it was installed in the outer chanel that would put the rubber about 3/16" inboard of where it should be. Is it the correct weatherstrip? Perhaps a PO used a generic piece that sorta worked. Are the doors themselves adjusted and closing properly?

Re: DS window to 1/4 window gap
Awww, Jeez, since nobody has offered some advice for poor Dinghyguy, I'll just have to chime in. Just this once, of course, and only because Dinghy and I like testing each other's abilities. But enough of bro' bonding, and back to the task at hand:
So I took apart my driver's side door panel to see if I could figure out the window (Yes, Dinghyguy, that's how much I care!!). As far as I can tell, the front window rail (the once connected to the window vent) adjusts the rake of the side window, that is, how angled the window is. The rear window rail seems to have only one purpose, and that is to hold the window glass in the right forward-rearward orientation, but not to adjust the tilt (rake). The angle of the rear window rail has no effect because it only contacts the side window for a couple inches when the window is rolled all the way up. But, the rear window rail does determine the inward-outward position of the window in the door frame.
OK, I realize that the above made absolutely no sense, so peep this, Fiat homies:
I looked very closely at the rubber seal for the rear of the side window, the seal that is attached to a chrome piece secured with 3 screws to the top frame. The side window glass is of course flat, but this seal piece on my car has a curve to it such that the bottom of the window touches the seal, but at the top there is a gap. Kinda sounds like the issue that Dinghyguy and I both have. So, assuming my wife doesn't have "honey-do's" planned for me tomorrow (??!!??), my mission now is to straighten out that chrome strip where the seal attaches, and make sure it's straight. Once it is, it should contact the side window at all points and there should not be a gap along the rear edge of the side window. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it.
B-man out.
