But the Manual says lubricate the SHAFT, does not mention anything about lubricating the SPLINES that the clutch disk rides on.
Want to be careful here.... Intuition says that the clutch plate shouldn't ride completely dry on those splines? It has a lot of free play and could stick a little. (Clutch plate is just put on in the pic here for illustration). The Throw Out bearing rides on a fixed sleeve and obviously that needs to have some lubrication, as well as the pins from the yoke that hold the T.O. bearing, and the point that the yoke pivots on)
You folks who have done this before, do you lube the splines as well as the shaft? Probably being way over cautious here, but this is the first time that I/we have done this work to this level of detail, so I want to learn and get it exactly right.
