Powder coated Cromadora's

Post by Jazgeek »

I bought a nice old set of Cromadora's.... I tried to polish them up and couldn't get them to look very much better than "fair"

so I said screw it... I sent them off to my powder coating vendor and got them to powder coat and clear coat them the same colour as the car's silver......

what do you think?

I might accent them later on with some black

Very nice looking. Black accents would be overkill IMO. In the photo the slots give an appearance of black accent.
Whichever way you go will probably be good though, you've impressed me so far with your taste on the paint job.

Thanks Ron/Mark... appreciate the compliment.

The cromadora's had some sort of accent on them before... I'm up in the air right now.... so many other "things" to do

My dad's a tailor and he made me new upholstery and roof tonneau. Installation of that and new wood is on for this winter's project list.

this is what they looked like before powder coating

did you try to polish just the ridges? I never thought of a tailor making upholstery. I'll assume the fit is perfect

Very, very nice. And a great paint combo on the car too. Has anyone tried painting Cromodoras some other color? Black for instance?

Hey Mark,

yes I tried just polishing up the edges... it was "fair" used Gord's, used some blue stuff I found in the autodept designed for wheels.. problem is the croma's are magnesium alloys and I couldn't find any product that could clean them well enough.

And yes, I could have painted them any other color but I went for the matching color to the car. I think black would make the tires dissapear in the wheel well.. maybe like my daughters movie "cars" I put on white walls it would pop... but I'm not lightning mcqueen so I'll stick with what I have ;)
