Rear center bump stop

Hello all, Merry Christmas! I just got a new rear suspension center rubber bump stop to replace the old one that was dry rotted. Old one simply came apart when pulling it out. The question is how to install the new one. Trying to simply push it is not working, even with stop wetted with cleaner. Side braces on the mount prevent twisting it in. Lack of access to back end makes it hard to grab and pull through. If anyone has done this before and has a good method or tips to suggest, I like to hear your input. Thanks!

Having never replaced these bump stops on my cars, I can only offer the general advice of warming the bump stop and using dish detergent as lubrication (some people swear by Dawn, but I doubt the actual brand makes much difference). I imagine that there once existed some sort of assembly tool that would tightly compress the barbed end, allowing it to slip through its mounting hole before releasing the tool.
Sorry I can't be of more help...

Same principle as installing an old school window gasket.

Hi DS
I actually got the idea from repairing my motorcycle tyres with the mushroom style rubber plugs!
