Fiat piston compression height

Post by GarageRat »

I have been reading a lot on this site while restoring my 76 Spider and have noticed Fiat seems to use a different way of measuring piston compression height. In the 1975+ shop manual for USA they list 47.65 mm. In the book by John Tipler, there is a copy of the homologation submission by Fiat for the Abarth 1800 and they list piston compression height as 47.2. Can anyone explain why they do this and how they are measuring?
