Spider?
Re: Spider?
the factory repair manual says Spider on the cover and it seems that many of the timing covers have a Spider decal
Re: Spider?
I am talking about badges visible by the owner and his friends on the exterior of the car, not only visible to his mechanic...which sometimes might be the same person, but you know what I mean.

Re: Spider?
Isn't that funny. It never entered my mind.
Although, there was that one on Ebay a while back that had the spider on the whole hood.
That would probably be too much though.

The Turbo version has Spider on the Air Box and the Owners Manual says Spider too.

I would guess for the same reason the other 124's don't have Coupe or Sedan badges.

Re: Spider?
Guys...owners manuals and repair manuals donot count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am talking about a chrome badge somewhere on the car. Remember, the turbo was an aftermarket supplied item installed here in the U.S., not at the factory. I am only talking about a chrome badge somewhere on the exterior panel of every car indicating its heritage, and there is none.
Denise...I know your car does, but mine doesnt even say 124.

Re: Spider?
On '79 and later the glove box door chrome has "Pinifarina Spider 2000" on it... mine does anyway. Now before 79 is a mystery.

Re: Spider?
Your glove box may have had it, but the rest dont have it. I dont know if that is a 1979 only badge or an aftermarket badge glued on! The rest look like mine.

Re: Spider?
It could be a C1 or C2 thing or wither Tony or Pepino was responsible for badging the glove box doors that day... it's still funny that it took them 11 or 12 years of producing a car before they started using the common name "Spider".
Who knows?

Re: Spider?
Everybody chime in on what is on you glovebox, I would be interested. Also state the year of your car. Do you think that Spider 2000 came on cars with leather option ordered?
Ron, I think you took you badge over to Sears Jewelry Dept. and had them engrave it with Spider 2000. By the way, what did it cost you.LOL

Re: Spider?
No way pope, I'm a married guy with children, I can't afford engraving!
You may have it right though, Brian. My car has the upgraded interior, padded console, and a beauty strip at the bottom of the dash. Leather seats; I don't know. Maybe that's what decided which cars got the Spider badge.
I'm with you Pope, it would be intesting to hear which cars have it.

Re: Spider?
was Spider just a US thing? Maybe the Fiat brass felt they needed a sexier name to sell the car here

Re: Spider?
Mine's an '81 California car, but nothing fancy (no leather, etc.) and it has the same badge on the glove box as in Ron's photo: Pininfarina Spider 2000.
