Trunk Restored / Finished

My wife got me gas tank/spare tire cover boards (from Vick Autosports) and carpet (from Auto Ricambi) for Father's Day.
Carpet came to me yesterday --- Cover boards came to me this morning.
I installed them this morning and I am very pleased with the results.
This 1 hour job transformed my unfinished trunk.

Have a look:

Many thanks Drummond.
Coming from you, I consider that high praise.
Your car is amazing -- some of the most intricate detail work ever done to a Spider.

Looks very nice, Dave!
How is it that the inside of your Spider's trunk does not have a bunch of exposed fuel system hoses on the driver's side? I can't even see the filler,...
If you've seen my recent posts, you'll know that it's really good that I did not arrange to drive Horsetooth with you this spring! Brakes, driveshaft, now head gasket,...I hope to get AHEAD of it all someday! Maybe soon,...

Ha!
thx, Geo!

Todd,
My fuel lines are flat against the support metal that the boards and carpet sit on so they are barely noticeable under the carpet -- no need for the standard plastic shroud that is usually used to cover them up. The Fuel filler and everything else is hidden on both sides by the carpeted side panels covering the open areas behind the wheel wells. Get yours back together and drop me a line -- we'll do that Horsetooth drive one day.

Yeah, I think you're just showing off!
Just kidding, Dave.
My car is bare on the sides of the trunk,...the carpet I bought twenty years ago does not extend into the fenderwells. That's why my fuel hoses (and there are a number of them) are exposed,...I might have to work on that, having seen your's!
All of the times that I've driven Horsetooth, over the last 45 years (in a myriad of different vehicles), and I have just not been able get this Spider prepared to do it, yet! Upsets me. But I'll get it there,...watch for updates.
Todd Compton.

Cool! I see that the new carpets extend into the fenderwells, with backing board support. Very nice.
What a great spouse you have,...
